ARISE DETROIT! AMBASSADOR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ARISE Detroit! is experiencing significant growth due mostly to growing community demands.  We are expanding programs, board and volunteers.  Our goals include establishing ourselves in our marketplace with consistent and focused messaging, increasing our division of labor and accountability, expanding our board including key volunteer roles, and establishing relationships with funders and donors.  In order to accomplish these goals, we need key volunteers to serve as Ambassadors.

Volunteers are a key link between ARISE Detroit! and the prospective donor/leader community.   Your support as an Ambassador helps us maximize their reach and increase awareness.  By being an ambassador, you may open new doors for the nonprofit organization to attract program participants, raise funds and recruit volunteers.

As an Ambassador we ask that you:

• Sign up. Participate as a volunteer on various ARISE Detroit! /Partner events.

• Lend Name. Ambassadors will agree to allow the organization to use their name in public relations materials and in solicitation of key prospects throughout the area.

• Spokesperson. Speak positively about the organization and the campaign and be prepared to answer basic questions. Rely on staff and key personnel for detailed information.

• Open Doors. Review the prospect list and indicate those with whom they can arrange a meeting. Also suggest new prospects to add to our list.

• Gift. Make a gift up to your financial ability.  We seek 100% participation by Ambassadors.

• Confidentiality.  Always maintain confidentiality as donor/prospect information is shared with committee members.

 

EXAMPLES OF AMBASSADOR ACTIVITIES
 

• Roll Up Your Sleeves.  Manage a table at one of our events.  As well as being active for ‘hands-on’ opportunities

• Wear the Brand.  In addition to your ARISE Detroit! t-shirt, wear the logo on your hat, shirt or lapel pin. You never know whom you will run into and the conversations that may be sparked by them seeing it.

• Invite a Friend. Next time you are planning to volunteer or attend a special event for ARISE Detroit!, invite a friend. By engaging them with us, you have multiplied your involvement and impact with the nonprofit.

• Tweet.  Share with your twitter follower’s information about the ARISE Detroit!'s upcoming events via social media and let them know about your involvement.

• Share.  Share posts from ARISE Detroit!'s Instagram page.  This will enable your friends to learn about us.

• Tell your family.  At the dinner table or family gatherings, tell your family about your involvement with ARISE Detroit!

• Raise Money.  Don’t shy away from the opportunity to help raise money for ARISE Detroit! to fulfill its mission.  Keep your eyes and ears open for new fundraising opportunities to support our efforts to raise money.

• Connect.   Encourage someone to sign-up for our weekly e-newsletter.  It's distributed to our 4,000 subscribers and is full of current city and community news.

• Advocate.  Offer to set-up a presentation with your block club, community/business association or advocay group – it is important to get ARISE Detroit!'s message out to as many people as you can.

• Tell a coworker.  Talk with some of your coworkers about your recent involvement and interactions with ARISE Detroit!. Perhaps they never knew of your involvement and were always interested in learning more about us.

• Help us move forward. Consider becoming a board member or serve on a committee. We're always looking for new input.
